As I was sitting in the hospital waiting room while my mother was getting her lungs biopsied, I contemplated on Teaching #10 of the Jedi Code. I reflected on how different it is to serve when we do it with peace, caring, love, compassion, and humility versus when we perform it out of a sense of duty.

Many times we are called to serve, whether it is at work, at home, or in our community. It may be something as simple as holding the door open for someone, or as complex as volunteering our time to help those in need. But the question is, how do we serve? Do we do it because we have to, or do we do it with the intention of making a positive impact on the world around us?

When we serve with peace, we do it with a calm and serene mindset. We are able to approach the situation with a clear mind and a compassionate heart. We are not hurried or anxious, and we take the time to ensure that we are doing our best to help those in need. We do not judge or criticize, but rather offer a listening ear and a supportive hand.

When we serve with caring, we do it with a sense of tenderness and concern. We are aware of the needs of those around us, and we take the time to understand their situation. We are not simply going through the motions, but rather we are invested in the well-being of those we are serving. We are attentive and responsive, and we do everything we can to make sure that those in our care feel loved and cared for.

When we serve with love, we do it with a selfless and unconditional spirit. We give of ourselves freely and without reservation, knowing that our actions will make a positive impact on the world around us. We do not seek recognition or reward, but rather we serve because it is the right thing to do. We love those we serve, not because of what they can do for us, but simply because they are fellow beings in need.

When we serve with compassion, we do it with a deep and empathetic understanding of the struggles and challenges that others face. We put ourselves in their shoes, and we do everything we can to ease their burden. We are not dismissive or apathetic, but rather we are moved by their pain and suffering. We serve with a heart full of kindness and a desire to make the world a better place.

When we serve with humility, we do it with a sense of modesty and selflessness. We recognize that our actions are just a small part of a larger whole, and we do not seek to elevate ourselves above others. We serve with a sense of gratitude, knowing that we have been given the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world around us. We are not boastful or arrogant, but rather we serve with a spirit of humility and grace.

As Jedi, we are called to serve in many ways. But how we serve can make all the difference.
