Go From “Why Do I Have To?” To “This Is Why!”: The Second Knowing – Find Your Purpose And Live A Life You Love

The Second Knowing of a True Awesome Life

Imagine waking up each day invigorated by a reason, a calling that fuels your every action. That’s the power of uncovering your true awesome life’s purpose. We explored the liberating truth of “who you are” in the first article. Now, let’s ignite the second spark – the purpose that sets your soul ablaze. This isn’t about external validation or societal expectations. This is about harnessing an inner fire, a unique contribution that only you can bring to the world. Get ready to tap into the essence of who you are and discover what truly makes your life awesome.

The research shows that there are a ton of benefits to knowing your purpose.

  • You’ll be more motivated. When you have a purpose, you’re more likely to stay focused and driven. You’ll be more likely to achieve your goals and dreams.
  • You’ll be more productive. With a clear purpose guiding your efforts, you’ll be able to do more and be more efficient with your time.
  • You’ll have a greater sense of well-being. Knowing your purpose gives you an inner peace and contentment like nothing else.

The thing is that society tries to hide and manipulate true purpose. Society tells you that purpose is something to be done, when in fact, purpose is something you feel.

Look,  you can do all the things – go dig wells in Sudan, feed the homeless, and cure cancer yet at the end of the day go home and feel empty. I can prove it to you.

Did your parents ever make you go help in a soup kitchen around the holidays? Most often, this results in a “Why do I have to do this?” Especially, if your friends were doing something fun instead.

That action wasn’t aligned with your purpose at that moment.

So what is true purpose? True purpose is a feeling, an experience to live your life from and help others experience too.

Now, let’s dive into an exercise to help you feel into your purpose. It’s time to tap into the power of emotions and memories.

Grab a piece of paper and put three columns.

Take a moment to get centered and rooted. Put your feet on the floor. Imagine a beautiful white light coming from the stars, flowing down your spine, through each of your chakras, and out through your feet creating energy roots through the Earth till you tap into the molten center. Now spread those roots till you can feel the trees, the grass, and any other plants around you.

Now think back on three happy memories: one from childhood, one from your teenage years, and one from adulthood. Write down all the emotions that come up for each memory in the columns. Don’t overthink it—just jot down whatever feelings arise.

Sometimes when we do this, negative memories come up. Acknowledge that not everything was perfect, thank yourself for getting through it, take a deep breath, and let it flow through the energy roots to be purified by the soil before finding a new thought.

Once you have your list, look for common themes or emotions that show up across all three memories. Take note of the top three that resonate with you the most.

Your purpose is to live in these three emotions and help others do the same. Your purpose doesn’t have to be some grand, lofty goal—it can be as simple as spreading joy, love, or compassion.

Remember, your purpose is all about feeling. It’s about finding what truly lights you up and brings you joy. Don’t overcomplicate it—just listen to your heart and trust that the rest will fall into place.

Now fill in this sentence: My purpose is to live in (emotion 1), (emotion 2), (emotion 3), and help others do the same.

How does that feel? Does it light you up? Does it inspire you? How are you already doing that? How can you do those things more consciously?

Knowing your purpose can eliminate so much drama and uncertainty by pointing you to your true north, the path that leads to your True Awesome Life.

In the next article, we will talk about the Third Knowing of a True Awesome Life.

Till then remember: You are a creator! You create the life that you live by the thoughts that you think.

You Are Loved!
